Moone Boy 2.6

Belts out all the usual gags one would expect from a wedding episode. 6/10

Moone Boy 2.5

Don Wycherley. This episode is choc full of stuff: first love, travellers, stag night, etc. Very funny across the board. 9/10

Moone Boy 2.4

Simon Day . A fairly slight story, with memorable gags thin on the ground. Everything seemed underdeveloped, particularly the Simon Day character. 7/10

Moone Boy 2.3

Pat Shortt .

  • The show has confidently established it’s unique brand of crazy.

  • Padraic gets as much screentime as the main character, so it’s essentially a show about two boys now. Which works for me.

  • This episode, much like the season premiere, gives nearly everyone in the (large) cast something to do.

  • This episode barely played the nostalgia card at all (unless you count Padraig’s dodgy music references!).

9/10

Moone Boy 2.2

Amy Huberman . Instead of a specific Irish event we can all identify with (Italia ‘90 ) this second episode moves to a more generic event in a young person’s life: first day in secondary school.

Plus: the excitement of having a crush on a beautiful teacher.

As ever, it is impeccably executed by all and very funny.

The show successfully walks a very thin line. The lead character is easy to identify with, while at the same time he is an extreme character who is nothing like any of us. It shouldn’t work, really. But it does. David Rawle has charisma. And the gags are funny. 9/10

Moone Boy 2.1

World Cup 1990, Donegal. Strong opener which does a good job of servicing all the characters and making some clever gags. 9/10
