Justified 4.13
Max Perlich. Immensely satisfying conclusion to the show’s best season so far. There were some truly deft story switches, and character-defining moments of genuine power. The show is sad but the sorrow is of epic proportions, a heartache born of situation rather than events. This fourth season solidified that. bringing it very close to being the best show on TV. 10/10

Very exciting. And very clever as the paths of various characters we’ve been watching all season begin to converge. The end is suitable shocking. 10/10

There’s no real story in this episode, just a lot of very satisfying scenes devoted to advancing the various story arcs.
Every scene with Boyd Crowder was particularly enjoyable. He’s cool. And clever. And it was a genuine pleasure to see Mr. Quarles so completely outwitted (in the election for sheriff). 8/10

Maggie Lawson. Wonderful. It’s a really clever story, which moves at a fast pace and manages to be consistently laugh out loud funny. Mostly due to the superb Damon Herriman as Dewey Crowe.
The story arc (Boyd vs. Quarles) is also picking up major momentum. Best scenes, for me, were the ones with Raylan and Boyd and their respective girlfriends. 10/10

Clayne Crawford . One of the funniest and (at the same time) darkest episodes. Laugh-out-loud slapstick-comedy one moment, brutal betrayals and killings the next. The show has the luxury at this stage of a large backstory and can draw on it to whatever effect it feels like. There are some very dark, despairing moments in this episode. Amid the chuckles. And in all cases it is because we know the characters so well. 10/10

Violent and satisfying conclusion to most of this seasons major story arcs. While successfully leaving many things up in the air (such as the fate of two major regular characters).
Over two seasons Raylan has grown into possibly the most complex good guy character we have on TV. Biggest surprise of this finale? He shot nobody. 10/10

Rebecca Creskoff. Plenty of really good character moments, plus action. Despite that, it still feels like it’s mostly just setting up the next episode. As if the sniper storyline (must like the bomb one last time) is really just added to give Raylan someone to shoot at, and bring the episode to a climax of sorts. Where, really, all that matters to us is the a-story with (the superb) Margo Martindale. 8/10

Stolen Money. Riveting. Incredible tension from start to finish. Superb. Not just a great one-off story, it’s a fascinating character study on the two leads (and their romance), plus it cleverly weaves other stories into the mix and never misses a beat, or drops the tension. Wow. 10/10
