09:00 Kung Fu

Life. Episode 1. We are introduced to the latest in a long line of quirky cops, in this opening episode of NBC's newest cop show. He's prone to spouting Zen-type quotes, he gives inappropriate advice to some suspects, he is blunt with other suspects, tough with bullies, totally confused by lots of normal everyday things, and his partner doesn't know what to make of him. In short, he's a lot like lots of other quirky TV cops.

Kung Fu. Episode 6. Normally a fairly sombre and thoughful series, Kung Fu deviates from the formula with this lighter-than-normal episode. Caine and a comedy-Irishman character are responsible for the accidental death of a cat belonging to a mining camp. They are expelled from the camp, and told to find another cat. Not an easy task in the American Southwest of the 1870s. Along the way they meet a gutsy widow-woman and a family of bullies. There's a couple of fight scenes, and the Irishman learns a lesson from Caine, but - somehow - if fails to amount to much.

All in all, not a great evening of TV.
