Journeyman. Episode 4. This time out we get a hint about the backstory/mythology of the show when Dan, while time-travelling in the mid-90s, gets a phone call from a tachyon expert... in 2007! And while we don't know any more about Dan's time-travelling powers as a consequence of this, we - at least - do know that the writers are planning to tell us something in a future episode. Maybe it's like Tru Calling, which was well into it's run before we were told the backstory to her powers.

Two Guys And A Girl. Season 3, Episode 3. Pete is living in fear of Johnny since he found out about him having feelings for Sharon. This is the episode where they go fishing and Pete is convinced that Johnny is trying to kill him. Hilarious.

Friday Night Lights. Episode 20. The best show on TV delivers are real winner in this powerful hour. When the school is declared off-limits (due to an outlandish plot device, shame on you FNL!) the Dillon Panthers build their own Football Field out in the middle of nowhere. The climax of the episode is a very clever juxtaposition. On one hand we have the most exciting football game the show has thus-far delivered. Intercut with this is an attempted rape on one of the show's most beloved characters. Powerful stuff. Evoking both elation/joy and despair/horror in the viewer at the exact same time.

Baywatch. Episode 11. The high-point of the first season: Eddie and Shauni share their first kiss. The focal point of most fans attention during that first season was the blossoming love between these two and seeing them finally get together is a highlight of the entire series. While that is happening, the actual A-plot is a hostage crisis at Baywatch HQ when two crooks hold the gang hostage, during a severe storm. The atmosphere of the storm-besieged building is great and the climax, with an injured Garner coming to the rescue, is very good.

Kyle XY. Episode 9. A pitch-perfect mix of family drama, teen soap and sci-fi thriller. On paper it would appear to be a mess, but the execution if flawless and this is the finest episode so far. Kyle and Declan team up to track down Tom Foss, and the narrative finally fills in a lot of the backstory on the show. Great stuff.

Prison Break. Season 3, Episode 5. The best episode of the season so far. This one is short on ambience (rats and sweat) and long on plot (Michael has a plan and it goes into motion). Being Prison Break there are some twists along the way, and there is a real sense of excitement (for the first time) about the escape.

Californication. Episode 9. Curiously, this feels more like a season/series finale than anything else. Hank writes a book. Finally. He makes a move on Karen and is firmly put in his place, so much so that he appears to have finally gotten the message. We also see that Bill is more than a jerk, and that he can - when he tries - be very considerate and attentive towards Karen. Also, the subplot with Charlie and his wife and mistress reaches conclusion. It's all good. But the viewer is inclined to feel like the story is over. Until two glorious twists at the very end. Glorious, glorious twists. Now, I'm really psyched to see where the story goes from here.

Highlight? Friday Night Lights.
