07:30 Friday Night Lights
08:30 The Office
09:00 Acapulco HEAT
Friday Night Lights. Episode 21. The best show on television, once again, delivers scene after scene of heartbreak, with some of the best performances to be seen anywhere. A teenager girl crying her heart out as she prepares to tell her sweetheart she's leaving town, a family torn apart by impending divorce, a loving (and deeply in love) married couple passionately fighting their case as the family contemplates leaving town, a cheating man caught mid-kiss, and an impromptu declaration of love leaving the declaree stunned and teary. It's just amazing what this show can accomplish.
The Office. Season 4, Episode 5. The gang make an ad. Hilarity ensures. Of course. Does it amaze anyone else they keep this show so fresh, working with such a limited location? It works because the characters are comedy gold. All of them.
Acapulco HEAT. Episode 5. Low production values, bad dubbing and a dreadful story make for another disappointing episode of Acapulco HEAT. I know that this show had great episodes. Because I saw them, 13 years ago, when the darn thing was in syndication for the first time. But I joined the show mid-season (when Fabio had been written out) and - judging from what I've seen on this DVD box set so far - the show obviously had some teething troubles in the early part of the season. This story has nothing whatsoever to do with the show's concept. It's a show about spies, but in this daft episode the team leader gets herself kidnapped by white slavers. Rubbish.
Highlight? FNL.
