09:30 The Shield
11:30 Entourage
The Shield. Season 4, Episode 1. The new season opens with a brutal murder of an entire family, a case which unites all the cops together. Glenn Close and Anthony Anderson join the cast and both get some good scenes. David Marciano joins also but has a very low key first episode. Even with all these new faces, and the strong cast of regulars, the show still belongs to Michael Chiklis and the best scenes are the two involving the members of the Strike Team. Lem shows up - briefly - halfway through the episode for a very sad scene as he looks around his old stomping grounds, and Shane shows up - just as briefly - for a chilling final scene when Vic finds him standing over a dead body.
Entourage. Season 3, Episode 2. Unlike Joey (which couldn't even give us laughs) Entourage gives us a look inside the life of big time movie star. A big time movie star who is basically a normal person with best friends. It's fascinating. And what better day to play voyeur than on the day when his biggest ever movie opens and he (and everyone) hopes that it will open big. Maybe even beat Spider-Man. It's a fun episode from start to finish (as the guys go see the movie in a packed theatre and later gate-crash a high school party) but where are the Moms who showed up in episode 1? I thought they would be around for a few episodes?
Highlight? The Shield.
