08:30 Seinfeld
10:00 The Shield
11:00 The Sarah Connor Chronicles
Seinfeld. Season 9, Episode 6. I don't like the storyline where Kramer gets the set from an old TV chat show, sets it up in his appartment and turns his life into a 24-hour-a-day chat show. It's too far into the realms of fantasy for me, and I can't get past the fact that the cast actually are in front of camera's and a studio audience. It's too close to the bone, for me, I guess. Otherwise, the episode has some very strong stories. Jerry repeatedly drugging his girlfriend so he can play with her toy collection is pure genius, for a start.
The Shield. Season 4, Episode 5. Vic takes a backseat this time. The new captain is very impressive in this episode. Going head-to-head with Claudette over the case featured last week, then checking her facts and doing the right thing. Defending her people and trying to make things right with Claudette. Rawlings is a dynamic new character and the show is all the better for revolving around her. The episode ends with a stunning showdown between Shane and Antwon Mitchell, where Shane's gun is used to murder a young girl. Gut-wrenching drama.
The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Episode 7. The scene were Cameron walks away while the girl she has just befriended and her brother are murdered is chilling to watch. But it proves beyond any doubt that the producers/writers are doing it right. They know how to extend/expand this franchise. This is the world of Terminator and it is awesome. Character-driven drama at it's best, with almost no action, but plenty of excitement. There are many high points in this episode. Many. To the show's considerable credit, once again, all of the characters get to partake in the highpoints. The regular cast are fantastic, and the script gives all a chance to shine.
Highlight? The Shield
