The Incredible Hulk. Season 2, Episode 7. "Alice in Disco Land" Alcoholism

Similar to "A Child in Need" but not as good. Like the child abuse episode it looks and feels like an episode of Quincy but unlike that famous episode this one feels forced. Alice's first AA meeting in a prime example: she goes from angry & reluctant to passive & forthcoming after a very brief struggle. It's just too darn easy. The episode regains my respect - somewhat - in a later scene where David helps Alice to understand that the disco she hangs out at is not the focus of her drinking problem. It's a complex & mature take on things, relative to the rest of the episode.

The Child Abuse episode didn't need to have a traditional 'bad guy' figure, but this one adds (the excellent) Marc Alaimo to the mix as a corrupt nightclub owner who... doesn't really do much in the story except threaten David and Alice at the end over a mis-understanding.

TIH usually hits it out the ballpark when it comes to tugging on the heartstrings, but - this time out - all the references to Alice In Wonderland do little more than pull the viewer out of the story.

Best bit? The music, especially the Disco remix of the Hulk theme. I also love the final bit where McGee sees The Hulk run past him on the street and ol' greenskin takes time to give the reporter a special Hello Growl. Classic.
