Doctor Who 31.1

Matt Smith makes his debut, and it’s great fun. But too long. There just isn’t 62 minutes of story here. So the pacing is sometimes very s-l-o-w. Way too many scenes are self-consciously Doctor Who. And it’s a bit embarrassing to watch when it does that. Much better when the story is moving forward and something is happening. And the story itself is clever, turning the mundane into (at the start) something very creepy. Karen Gillan is very sexy, it must be said. 8/10
