New Amsterdam. Episode 8. "Love Hurts" For once, the case-of-the-week wasn't bad and (except for a really stupid idea at the end when John pretends to leave the force to con a suspect) it was an above average episode of New Amsterdam. Also unusual for this show, the flashback wasn't all that interesting. What I really liked, however, was all the relationship stuff. Now that he's been shot and come back from the dead again John has started to lose interest in his romance with Sara. Of course, in keeping with his character, he doesn't say anything about it but we can see it happening in countless, wonderful scenes. Wonderful in the sense that they are well observed, well played and very honest. Even though we have only known these characters a short while, it was a sad to see them come to an ending like this. Yes, the show had flaws but if FOX had stayed with it, I would have stayed with it.
Reaper. Episode 18. "Cancun" end the first season of Reaper in fine style. The critical apathy towards this show puzzles me. It's so much fun, how come the critics aren't in love with it? Ben storyline has run it's course, so the writers give Sock a crazy storyline. At least, I hope we see Cindy Sampson again next season (Those horns were hot. Freaky, but hot.). Michael Ian Black returns to the show and it was great to see Steve again and see where he has ended up. Ken Marino gets better every week and he was awesome in this episode in all of Tony's scenes with Sam. It was a great episode, full of laughs and revelations. Can't wait for Season 2!
Supernatural. Episode 21. "Salvation" is a wonderful change of style for this show. We get to see here what the show would be like if it was about the brothers and their dad. And, guess what, it would still be fantastic!! Jeffrey Dean Morgan plays it like he really is the star of the show, and his scenes on his own are the absolute highlight of the episode. His trick with the holy water to stop the bad guys was one of the cleverest things I've ever seen. Awesome. Nicki Aycox is better than ever as Meg. She brings some serious menace to the role while saying everything with a big smile. Awesome.
