CSI. Season 6, Episode 2. "Room Service" is an unusual episode of CSI. First off it has a fair amount of split-screen visual effects (something you'd expect to find in 24 or Columbo). Secondly, it has a point to make. Or, at least, it thinks it has. Much is made of the fact that one of the victims is poor, and one of them is rich. But, beyond making that observation (several times), the show has little else to say. The final shot (of both corpses lying side by side) is very gimmicky and pointless. In general, I don't think CSI needs to attempt these kind of stories. It's a solid mystery series. Leave it at that. Great use of Mad World by Gary Jules, though.
Greek. Episode 13. "Highway To The Discomfort Zone" (great title) finds several ongoing story arcs advanced. My favourite is probably the one involving Dale and Calvin. Dale is trying to cure Calvin of being gay. It's a wonderful storyline, played to perfection by both actors, it's full of laughs but it also doesn't make light of the situation. Not sure I've seen anything quite like it. I also love the Casey storyline. She's told (in this episode) that Cappie is dating Rebecca and doesn't react very well. Again, all her scenes are full of laughs but the writing/acting doesn't ever make light of the pain/lonliness she is feeling. Great stuff. Finally, Rusty feels the pains of not being popular with his peers. One of the best relationships in the show is the Rusty/Cappie relationship and it's interesting to watch how Cappie watches over his little protegé in this story.
Flight Of The Conchords. Episode 10. The band acquire some "New Fans" in this episode. Murray remarks that they have tripled the fan base and - as a consequence - will need to buy two more t-shirts. It's another wonderful episode. Mel, the existing fan, gets a lot of screen-time in this episode and her background is fleshed out somewhat. The songs are cool and it's hard to pick a comedy highlight, although the part where they boys are offered a threesome with one fan is especially hilarious. They debate what to do for ages, before trying to flee her appartment by climbing out the bathroom window. Unfortunately it's an interior window and it leads back to her living room!
