All the funniest lines/moments came from Jim. And Mark Heap‘s rendition of Silent Night at the end was lovely. 8/10

Patrick Driver. Some wonderful comedy here. Locking Grandma in the boot of the car being one of the show’s funniest bits so far. But even after that we get Jim leading the family to “Mike Sullivan” who will save the day! And the climax, with the Lesley Vickerage character calling to the house to see Jonny is terrific, as well. 10/10

Lesley Vickerage. Best episode of season two so far. Hilarious from start to finish. And a lot of the biggest laughs came from the characters and how they treat one another. Other moments, like the phone call to Jonny’s boss, were real comedy gold. 10/10

Friday Night Dinner 2.3

One of the best examples of ongoing and funny rivalry between the brothers. Also: the parents fighting for the whole episode builds successfully to a silly, but funny, pay-off. 8/10

Friday Night Dinner 2.2

What a delightful comedy character the old man is. Crazy, and brilliantly played by Harry Landis. A lot of heart laughs in this episode. 9/10

Buggy. To give them credit, they get a heck of a lot of mileage out of one joke: the boys fighting over a toy. It did seem a bit one-note and tiresome after a while, but even in the second half it was still provoking laughter. Bringing Jim into the story was a wise move. 8/10

Frances Barber . Definitely the funniest episode so far. Plenty going on. First episode to take the whole family out of the house for several scenes. And the chaos of the last few minutes was absolutely hilarious. 10/10

Dress. Not much new this time out. Just a lot of the same running gags. 7/10

Paul Ritter's Martin is definitely the best thing about this series. So funny. Can't wait to see what he says/does next. This episode makes two changes to the established formula. First, it introduces a new family member (Jackie's horrible mother) and, second, a large chunk of the story takes place away from the house (when the brothers go to the nearest pub). 9/10

Jingle. Not quite as funny as the first episode, but there are still many laughs to be had as the show expertly wrings every comedic morsel it can from what is essentially a very simple situation. Paul Ritter's Martin is used to drive most of the comedy, as the majority of scenes are the other characters reacting to him and his behaviour. 9/10

Sofa-Bed. Very funny. Easily establishes the characters and the ingenious set-up. Very much looking forward to episode two. 9/10
