Definitely not the show I was expecting. Season one was a mixed bag, to say the least. A few magnificent episodes, certainly, but a lot of the storytelling was slow and character-driven in a way that was occasionally mildly-frustrating. Not a case of love-at-first-sight, the way it was with Breaking Bad and I can’t see it making my end-of-year Top Ten.

Jonathan Banks joins the cast and we get some wonderful Nicolas Cage stuff, and uniquely Greendale moments (a riot!). Sometimes I was laughing a lot, and sometimes I was a bit disappointed that it was basically an episode where Jeff learns to be a teacher and take his work seriously. 8/10
