Major Crimes 3.18
So happy to have Billy Burke and Nadine Velazquez back! And what a script! Intricate and tense. A real thrill-ride. Burke’s scenes are stomach churning. He is so good. And Phillip Stroh has - over the years - become a truly epic villain. Terrific work from Graham Patrick Martin in the scene with Rusty and Stroh. That was years coming. And it felt like it. Magnificent. And the final scene… Excellent. 10/10
Major Crimes 3.14
Jude Ciccolella. Convoluted, predictable case-of-the-week. The character-driven scenes with the regulars are the best part. Particularly Provenza reacting to the idea that Flynn might retire. 8/10

Major Crimes 2.13

Esai Morales, Bill Brochtrup, Clare Carey. Good case-of-the-week, with two very good characters and performances from the guest artists. As usual, we get lots of lovely little character moments between the regulars. But, most exciting, this is one of the very best Rusty episodes. The Rusty story has been slow-moving, but impeccably performed. And, after all this time, we really do care about the character. 10/10

The first season of Major Crimes got off to a shaky start, with a lot of needless character conflict. Which appears (wisely) to have been dropped mid-season. Final episode was top notch. It took them far too long to reach that height, but since I love these characters I was willing to wait. Roll on Season Two!
