The Big Bang Theory 10.2

Very funny episode with two strong storylines.

  • The Bernadette/Penny storyline is the better one. It’s rock-solid, standard sitcom fare peppered with a lot of great one-liners. And, even better, at the core is a believable character issue for Bernadette.
  • The ongoing Military storyline takes a big move forward here, and the guys move buildings at the end to take on a new job for the next few months. Exciting to see the show do a multi-episode arc again.
  • Best scene: Sheldon not talking. That was hilarious.

10/10

The Big Bang Theory 8.12

Solid episode. Basically, it’s story-less. The time being devoted to serious conversations between three of the six main pairs on the show. Leonard and Sheldon discuss their friendship and come to a big decision, Penny gets a new understanding of her friendship with Amy, and Howard learns a bit about Raj. There aren’t many laughs, but it’s a sweet and amusing episode nonetheless. (Any laughs in it come almost exclusively from Amy.) 7/10

The Big Bang Theory 7.19

Wil Wheaton. Delightful script, with three of the regulars trying to make difficult decisions. Full of great gags, too. But the laughs were mainly driven by character. Everyone was on form, but, in particular, it was Amy who stole the show. Just wonderful. 10/10

The Big Bang Theory 7.17

Three stories that are firmly rooted in character. Some good gags, and some good moments.

Wonder where the Penny story arc is going? Is she going to land a major acting gig this season? Maybe end up a star? Just like Joey did on Friends? Certainly a wealth of story ideas if they go down that route. 9/10

The Big Bang Theory 7.14

James Earl Jones, Carrie Fisher . BBT is a bit hit-and-miss these days, but when they hit it out of the ballpark, they really hit it out of the ballpark. Shows pairing Sheldon with a celebrity are almost a successful as shows pairing Sheldon with Penny, and this is surely the best of the celebrity shows, because JEJ really entered into the spirit of things and seems to be having a ball.

The other storylines, while funny, where actually quite thoughtful and meaningful. A really superb episode. 10/10

The Big Bang Theory 7.12

NCIS. Quite a serious episode. Quite bleak, really. Not uncommon on this show, but they really laid it on thick this time. Wonder where this story arc will go? 8/10

The Big Bang Theory 7.6

Song For Bernadette. A couple of wonderful romantic moments stand out in an otherwise standard episode. Also worth noting: in episodes like these, we can clearly see how much the characters have grown over the run of the show. 7/10

The Big Bang Theory 7.3

Scavenger Hunt. Hilarious. Creates comedy by pairing the regulars in new ways. Of course, the Penny/Sheldon pairing (which we’ve seen many times) is still the best, overall. But the others are so good that we would want to see them again.

Episodes like this make me think this show could run twenty seasons and never run out of steam. 10/10
