02.30 Famous Five
Famous Five. Episode 6. "Five Go Off In A Caravan" The Five park their caravans and make friends with a boy from a nearby circus, but his mean uncle seems very interested in them and the place they have parked.
Fast-paced and enjoyable outing that allows Dick to shine in the spotlight (spotting clues, being brave and - in one hilarious scene at the very end - being really cocky to one of the crooks).
Brian Glover heads the guest cast and does a great job. The story moves fast, the score is simply wonderful and there's a great sense of being out in the Summer and having fun.
Story-wise this is a much needed departure from the formula of the first five episodes. There's no house full of secret passageways and no adults around for the Five to fight with. It's just the regulars and a kid called Nobby who isn't allowed to steal the spotlight from the ones we tune in to watch.
Good fun.
