11.00 Barney Miller

Better Off Ted. Season 2, Episode 1. "Love Blurts" Ted leads his new girlfriend to believe that he is of Indian descent.

One of the craziest, and funniest things, I've ever seen. The show uses one central idea (the company dictates dating/mating policy) and uses it to give all the characters something funny to do.

Jay Harrington has never been funnier.

And I love episodes where Veronica stops being a corporate cog and defends her team. Really cool.

Best line? Truly impossible to pick one.

Melrose Place. Episode 12. "San Vicente" The killer is revealed.

And I'm happy with it. It makes sense.

More important, Ella and Jonah get together. They are my favourite TV Couple of the moment and I love that fact that the show put them together. Katie Cassidy was great in their final scenes together. She lifts the material and makes it sing.

The Good Wife. Episode 8. "Unprepared" Arson.

Another one of those "only on TV" ending, but it doesn't take away from the fact that this is a superb show.

Julianna Margulies owns this show. Often without saying a word.

Scene one, here, is devoted to Chris Noth, scene two is driven by Josh Charles while Matt Czuchry is the center of the third scene. Three actors with considerable screen presence. Julianna Margulies barely speaks in these opening scenes, yet our attention never wavers from her and from her perspective. We are always invested in her, no matter who else is on screen or speaking.

Man, they lucked out when they cast her.

Aside from the case-of-the-week, which was basic and fine, we got some great material on the conspiracy storyline. I love the way the show has chosen to make the children the investigators. Clever. Loving it.

Barney Miller. Season 2, Episode 4. The cops walk into an "Ambush"

Much weaker than usual. There are no crooks on screen, for a change, and - therefore - no stories to tell. It's all about the cops and, I suppose, a bit too self-conscious.

Highlight? Better Off Ted (funny)
