Rules Of Engagement. Season 4, Episode 5. "The Four Pillars"
I love this show, it makes me laugh out loud. But there are two things that bug me about it. And both are featured in this episode.
1. I don't like it when the stories are driven by Jeff being a jerk. It used to happen a lot. It doesn't happen much any more, but it happened in this episode. Jeff was a jerk at couples therapy because he thought they would get told to have more sex. In the end, he was able to save the day by calming down and showing his wife that he loved her and he wasn't so bad, really. It's my least favourite plot device on the show and I'm glad we don't see it very much any more.
2. I don't understand why the others are friends with Russell, since they never say anything nice about him. Sometimes they do an out-of-character Russell episode and it allows the audience (and more importantly: me!) to see a different side of him and possibly understand why the other tolerate him. This was one of those. And it was very good. Particularly nice to see Jennifer as the one reaching out and trying to cheer the little guy up. Moments like that make believe that at the back of all the insults that all these characters really like one another.
Aside from all of that it was a very good episode. The Adam storyline was very funny, and it's great to see the show doing something it has never done before: a proper story arc.
Lost. Season 6, Episode 9. "The Package" Sun & Jin
I like episodes like this. I like episodes that feature everybody. Sure, episodes like the previous one (about Richard) are top notch television, but they do tend to ignore the show's large cast. This was a middle-of-the-road episode (nothing spectacular happened) and I loved it because we got to see a little of everybody. When's the last time that happened?
The big revelation at the end? Not so much. I pretty much assumed who 'the package' was. But that didn't detract from my enjoyment of the episode in the slightest. In fact, I hope the final batch of episodes show everybody every week.
