Baywatch. Episode 18. "Eclipse" Ghost?
For the second episode in a row, Eddie is the center of the a-plot and - for the second episode in a row - he's out of control and in trouble. But, while "Snake Eyes" is nonsense and one of my least-favourite episodes, this one is a lot of fun. And it works.
The a-plot finds Eddie haunted after the death of a fellow lifeguard. Literally haunted. Seems that the dead lifeguard saw a mysterious woman in white before he died, and now Eddie is seeing her. And nobody believes him (giving Billy Warlock plenty of opportunity to be moody and angry). Plus, Eddie is also haunted by something from his past. And nobody knows about that.
As the story plays out, I absolutely loved the way the gang of regulars (particularly Gina and Craig) pitched in to see what they could do to help. That, to me, is part of the appeal of Baywatch: seeing someone in the midst of a group of real friends. Particularly Gina. Gina got lots of scenes in this one, and Holly Gagnier looked absolutely stunning every time she was on screen.
The twist at the end, concerning Eddie's secret was really good, too. And I liked the way the main story, the ghost story, was resolved. Seeing ghosts in the world of Baywatch sets the scene, in a way, for the antics of Baywatch Nights Season Two.
The b-plot was average/uninteresting: Hobie was helping a friend who was trying to save her dog from execution.
The c-plot concerned Cort owning a very old Diving Suit, which was stolen.
All in all, a lot of fun to be had in the a-plot. Guilty Pleasure TV.
