First half was boring and unconvincing. And not funny. Second half was really good. Clever. And I cared. And it was funny.
Change happened in a scene where Kal Penn was hit on the nose by a basketball. It was a funny, well-written scene. And, from that point onward, the story went in an unexpected direction. And when it was all over, the hero was much more empowered and much more interesting. And so were his new friends.
Having said that: this is no guarantee that the series that folllows will be good. But, major flaws and all, I really enjoyed this. 7/10
