The Mary Tyler Moore Show 3.8

Jerry Van Dyke. I like Van Dyke a lot, but he’s not much of an asset to this episode. In fact, the episode absolutely sparkles when Mary and Lou share a scene. First, because their scenes together in this one are funny and second because they have such an obvious affection for each other. It makes for some wonderful moments. But when focus returns to Van Dyke's character the episode loses momentum. 8/10
