- An infamous episode, due to it’s thinly disguised parallels with the situation in Northern Ireland at the time.
- The guest cast are good throughout, particularly Beswick who is perfect for the role of beautiful freedom fighter.
- The location filming at the dam looks great, and adds an extra dimension of enjoyment.
- The story is reasonably complex, with some moral ambiguities regarding the people Steve is working with, and the fact that the IBA aren’t actually the perpetrators of the kidnapping.
- Given the serious nature of the situation that ‘inspired’ it, one does wonder why on earth the production staff would want to use it as fodder for an episode? These early seasons of SMDM are often quite realistic in tone, and successfully so. But this is surely a misguided idea. However, when taken as a light adventure yarn and nothing more, the episode is highly enjoyable. 9/10
