03.15 The Big Bang Theory
03.45 The Office
The Big Bang Theory. Season 2, Episode 3. "The Barbarian Sublimation" Penny gets addicted to online gaming.
Very clever idea, and the execution is hilarious. Pairing Penny and Sheldon always yields lots of laughs. Both characters are extreme and there is a natural conflict between them, both performers bring much to the roles and the writers give them some hysterical one-liners.
The Office. Season 5, Episode 15. "Lecture Circuit, Part 2" Michael has a bit of a melt-down at Holly's new place of work, Jim and Dwight organise a party and Angela has cat problems.
"The Office" is a show without formula episodes, indeed pretty much every story is about a break from the routine of day-to-day office life, but this installment is even more of a departure than normal. For the second week in a row Michael and Pam are away from the office and, more important, Pam is away from Jim. Don't get me wrong I love them as a couple but the show needs to keep them busy in other plotlines. Pam makes a great partner for Michael and Jenna Fischer is hilarious when Pam has to step up and fill in for Michael after his melt-down.
The melt-down itself was typical of what this show does so well: makes you laugh, makes you want to look away squirming and - ultimately - makes you believe in the emotions at the core of the insanity.
For me, though, the highlight continues to be the pairing of Jim and Dwight. I hope we see more of that.
Highlight? Big Bang Theory (funniest show on TV)
