08.00 The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory. Season 2, Episode 17. "The Terminator Decoupling" The guys ride the train.
Lots of sitcoms have done the ol' regulars-meet-a-celebrity-and-make-a-fool-of-themselves plot. Earlier this week I watched the NewsRadio take on this, and it was a blast, and it's a sitcom idea that dates back to Lucille Ball and beyond.
The Big Bang version works better than most since the guys are more likely than most sitcom regulars to make fools of themselves in this situation. Summer Glau is adorable as the hassled celeb.
Supernatural. Season 4, Episode 9. "I Know What You Did Last Summer" A woman who can hear angels goes on the run. From demons.
A slow-moving and boring episode. There's no real case-of-the-week since the woman on the run is closely tied to the show's backstory/story arc. And there's not much advancement in the ongoing storyline since a huge portion of the episode is a flashback to what Sam did while Dean was away.
It's a curious mixture of half-developed ideas. If they wanted to showcase Sam and Ruby as a team, why not do a proper flashback episode with a proper case-of-the-week? Sam could have been telling Dean the story and we could have seen how he and his demon lady worked as a team. Instead, we just a few disjointed scenes of Sam being sad and reckless. When he and Ruby start making out, it happens without much emotional context. Instead of being shocked or surprised, I was just looking at the screen thinking: Why are they doing that?
It would have been better if their romance had happened at the end of a proper story.
The cliff-hanger is great, however. But it makes me wonder if the scenes with Anna were really needed for this episode. Her story, I suspect, will only get interesting next week.
Highlight? The Big Bang Theory (Summer Glau)
