In Plain Sight. Season 3, Episode 3. "Coma Chameleon" Guy comes out of a coma and tries to find his girlfriend. Meanwhile Mary and Raphael have a serious talk. Uh-oh!
3 episodes in and I'm still undecided about this new version of In Plain Sight, without David Maples. Fact is: I loved the first version, and all that angst and pain that Mary had in her life. 3 episodes in, and it seems like a lot of stuff has gotten cleared up. Her mum moves out in this one, and her boyfriend leaves also. Now, neither of these relationships were right/correct/healthy but they sure as heck generated lots and lots of great scenes.
From here on in, it looks like Mary's home life will be a lot less complicated (her sister left in the previous episode).
How's her work life? Well, Allison Janney has joined the cast and... I'm not warming to her at all. Hopefully she gets written out. Fast! The character seems like a recast version of the Holly Maples character. What's the point of that?
Story-wise, however, I did enjoy this episode a lot. The story hit all the predictable beats, but it hit them well and I will admit that I got sucked into the tale.
And through it all, Mary is still Mary. That's something worth cheering about.
