- In lesser hands, this would be a mere gimmick episode. Instead it is clever and profoundly sad. Not just for Batman, but also for the villain of the piece.
- And, until that big reveal at the end, it’s an episode with a compelling mystery and a lot of mood and atmosphere.
- The reveal, when it comes, serves to tie this story back to an earlier tale, also superb.
- No other episode goes so deep into the mind of Bruce Wayne, and the choices he makes. And very few shows have ever does stories like this. Rarely so well.
- All in all, this is one of my most favourite episodes of Batman and once that has really stayed with me over the years.
